Lateral line a raised seam, not prickly or crossed by plates. Reddishbrown; pectorals very large, their inner sides with a vivid blue border at the tip (young may have a blue patch, with pale 11 polka dots,” on the inner aspect of the pectorals). Grows to over 10 lb. Common.
